Volunteer
Ambassador
An Ambassador is the primary link to the homeowner. They must communicate with the homeowners, ensuring that the homeowner knows what the team hopes to accomplish, what cannot be accomplished and what will be done with respect to unexpected problems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to recruiting sufficient volunteers for their team to assure that work started can be completed; coordinating the day with the homeowner, House Captain, CIA staff and committees; working with families to ensure they are either pitching in with the work or out of the house on CIA day; supervising and managing the volunteers on CIA work day.
An Ambassador needs the people skills to deal with the elderly, uncertain, skeptical and sometimes unhappy homeowners. While CIA is a one day activity for most team members, Ambassadors should assume they will be involved periodically over a several month period, and that depending on the scope of work their team undertakes, they may have significant time involvement in the days before and after the CIA work day. Only through effective, dedicated House Captains, Ambassadors and Area Directors can CIA hope to achieve its goals of providing warmth, safety and independence to our homeowners and their families.
